As a Redevelopment Institute reader, you’re no doubt invested in the continued development and financial stability of our communities. With the health and economic challenges suddenly brought on by COVID-19, we wanted to provide some resources for those looking for ways to help.
First, the Redevelopment Institute would like to highlight the efforts of Team Rubicon, an organization that creates
emergency response teams in the U.S. and abroad made up of military veterans and first responders. Team Rubicon is helping with the COVID-19 response by delivering medical supplies and food as well as offering logistical support for emergency managers and emergency operation centers. The Redevelopment Institute is donating a portion of the fees paid for any online course to Team Rubicon, so you can build your skills while helping with COVID-19 relief efforts.
Here are some additional ideas to make a difference in your immediate neighborhood:
- Order delivery or take-out from local restaurants, and consider tipping as you would if you were eating there;
- Buy gift cards from small businesses that can be used when they re-open;
- Check in on the elderly and other at-risk neighbors before running errands to see if they are in need of any items; and
- If you are financially able, continue to pay regularly-scheduled service providers.
