Mr. Hersh is one of the leading brownfields developers in the country, having managed the acquisition of over $150 million in environmentally-impacted properties from commercial to heavy industrial nationwide. His experience in the development field includes over 25 years in various positions including Development and Planning Director for a municipality, Executive Director of a Community Development Corporation and senior development official for a Fortune 100 corporation.
Mr. Hersh’s experience includes community planning and zoning code modifications in communities ranging from small towns to major cities, including Transit Oriented Design projects. He has extensive international experience in brownfields redevelopment and analyses in Eastern Europe, China and throughout North America. He was the first chair of the Developers’ Committee for the National Brownfields Association, the chair of the Finance Committee for The Waterfront Center and a Board member of the New Partners for Community Revitalization, the Partnership for Sustainable Brownfields Redevelopment and the Clean Land Fund. Currently Mr. Hersh holds an appointment as Clinical Associate Professor of Real Estate, teaching graduate courses in development, land use and sustainability at New York University. Mr. Hersh has a Master’s in Planning from New York University and an undergraduate degree in Urban Affairs/Economics from City University of New York.
